The Customer:
For almost 50 years Gerhardi Kunststofftechnik GmbH has been a
dependable automotive industry partner. The company specializes in
plastic parts with high quality, galvanized surface finishes.
Typical products are radiator grilles or decor panels for bumpers
and boot flaps.
The Task:
Production of decor panels to very high quality specifications
The Problem:
Even the slightest scratch on the perfect surface is glaringly
obvious
The Solution:
Use a high-performance KraussMaffei linear robot to remove parts
gently and precisely from the mould
The Outcome:
A KraussMaffei LR-S 300 linear robot was retrofitted onto an
existing Battenfeld 6500/280 injection moulding machine. The LR-S
is a standalone version with its own control system, making it
simple to retrofit onto older machines. The LR-S will interface
efficiently with any injection moulding machine. The control units
for the machine and the robot communicate via standard interfaces.
The robot demolds the parts, which have an undercut geometry, very
gently and precisely from the mould. With separate servomotors for
each robot axis, it's possible to combine several simultaneous
robot movements to achieve the best result. Using a gripper design
specific to the product, the robot demolds the parts and presents
them to a separate, customer-side sprue-cutting station. This
sprue-cutting process has been seamlessly integrated into the
automation solution. Finally the parts are deposited on a conveyor
belt. KraussMaffei - your partner for automation.
