The Customer:
OECHSLER specializes in manufacturing precision components and
assemblies mainly for the automotive, medical and electrical
industries.
The Task:
Producing covers for mobile phones
The Problem:
Production hall with very low ceiling, floor space was a limiting
factor in production
The Solution:
A wall-mounted industrial robot.
The Outcome:
The covers are manufactured on a KM 80 CX and removed from the
mould (by suction) by an IR 200 W industrial robot mounted on a
vertical frame. The swivel movement of the robot, with only two
axes in motion, makes possible a significant reduction in the cycle
time without impacting on the high flexibility. The gripper handles
sprue-removal. On command, all parts from one shot are deposited on
a conveyor belt for a quality check. As with a linear robot, the
area below the industrial robot can be fully used, for example for
packing. In this case, three packaging systems are planned: trays,
blister packs and boxes.
