The Customer:
Any supplier of automotive interior components
The Task:
Produce a ready-to-install seatbelt lock cover
The Problem:
Manufacturing cockpit components cost-effectively to the highest
quality criteria?
The Solution:
The intelligent combination of different production technologies
from KraussMaffei - injection moulding, reaction moulding and a
high level of automation.
The Outcome:
An injection moulded carrier produced on a KM 160-740 CX is coated
with a high-quality polyurethane layer in the same mould. The
polyurethane is produced in a RIM Star minidos mixing and metering
machine docked onto the mould. An LR-S 100 linear robot demolds the
parts, cuts the sprue and deposits the parts in boxes on an
indexing conveyor belt. KraussMaffei has successfully implemented a
one-shot process with no post-processing that is capable of
producing parts with high-quality surfaces at an economic cost. The
potential for the future is huge.
