The Customer:
Olho-Technik, a company in the Olho Group, has the experts when
it comes to producing cockpit components with high-spec surfaces
and kinematic elements.
The Task:
Production of ready-to-install, in-mould-decorated radio bezels
The Problem:
In this cleanroom application, the centred and precleaned inserts
must be positioned precisely in the mould.
The Solution:
Cleanliness is of overriding importance to meet demanding quality
criteria. The manufacturing cell is equipped as a cleanroom with a
laminar-flow box, air locks, vertical-lift doors and ionization
equipment. An industrial robot with a vacuum pump and painted with
antistatic, high-gloss paint is the perfect partner in this
application. Any residual dust particles on the inserts are removed
in a cleaning station.
The Outcome:
KraussMaffei supplied a system solution consisting of a KM 350-1900
C2, an IR 500 F industrial robot and complex peripherals. The
customer-defined inserts are supplied to the process in a movable
buffer unit. After centring, dust particles are removed in a
cleaning station. They are then picked up by an inserting/demolding
gripper and placed precisely in the mould of the injection moulding
machine. After injection moulding, the robot demolds the parts from
the mould and presents them to a barcode printer for printing.
Finally the parts are deposited on a conveyor belt and moved out of
the cleanroom production cell. The bezels are ready for assembly
and automation has delivered highly competitive cycle times. The
higher productivity means that the system quickly pays for itself
and delivers a high return on investment.
